With fifteen years in professional software development (so far), I've played many roles: a humble programmer, a productive engineer, a team-oriented lead developer, a solutions architect, and - most recently - a sales engineer.

In addition to my day job, I regularly speak at conferences around the U.S. and engage with developers and companies all over the world.

If this blog looks familiar to you, you may have seen my work on Sitecore Spark. I've spent years covering Sitecore topics over there, but it's time to expand.

Welcome to Refactor

The best software solves complex problems with simple solutions. This extends to explaining software - keep it simple!

Refactor is a blog focused on explaining modern technology topics - especially those about software development - with short, simple articles and an ELI5 approach ("explain like I'm five") to complex topics. Fifteen years is a long time in the software development world, so expect a few opinions here and there - but they will always be explained and justified so you can decide if you agree or disagree with me.

A few topics I hope to cover in the coming years:

  • Modern .NET development (and the transition from .NET Framework to .NET)
  • JavaScript (especially as it relates to my JS presentations)
  • Architecture
  • Game development
  • Career advice (based on my experiences)
  • Speaking tips
  • Mentoring
  • ... and much more
